Pre-Set Energy Dashboard

This energy dashboard serves a tactical purpose by allowing users to set a budget at the beginning of the month and display the difference in real-time as the month progresses. The pre-set budget is displayed at the top of the dashboard. The red horizontal line represents the current energy consumption amount for the given appliance. The green color font number indicates to residents that they are consuming energy under the budget amount. The red font number demonstrates that residents have exceeded their monetary budget.

Monthly Energy Bill Report

Energy Report: Hello, Mr. James, your utility bill for the month is $100; let’s see how your utility bill is broken down between appliances in your home. First, starting with the HVAC, which consumed $30 or %30 of the total bill. Next, we have a tie between your water heater and washer/dryer, which consumed $20 or 20% of each of your utility bills. Next, have the light $15 or 15% of your utility bill. Followed by your sauna, $8 or 8%, and lastly, we have your kitchen outlets which accounted for $7 or 7% on your utility bill.

Treemap Chart

This dashboard is a Treemap which is a hierarchical view of the energy data in the form of rectangles. Each rectangle represents a circuit or appliance monitored in the home. Each appliance has its unique color. The size of the rectangles corresponds to the amount of energy consumed for that entire month. Resident can began to quickly draw conculsions from the dashblard by get familiar with the colors tied to each appliance. The dashboard also displays the kWh and monetary values.

Energy Mindset Dashboard

This energy dashboard has a strategic purpose, which allows users to see how energy has been consumed in their house in previous months. The dashboard uses the drill-down story visualization structure technique. This technique will enable residents to select a month, click on a week, and then select an appliance from that week to see how that individual appliance performed.

Energy Consumption Goals

This dashboard uses a box-plot chart to give residents a monthly comparison of the current billing period compared to the previous month's energy consumption by the appliance. The dashboard will display data in real time, so as residents are consuming energy inside the home, they can pinpoint how much energy they are consuming compared to last month's billing period. The red horizontal line is the pre-set budget; the black vertical bar is the current energy consumed. The green to red gradient is the previous month's energy consumption data from normal to 30% above average.
